Fall Adventures with Your Pup in Georgia
Hey, Georgia dog parents!
Fall is officially here, and you know what that means: cooler weather, beautiful colors, and a ton of fun things to do with our pups! At Hometown Hounds Co., we're all about getting outside and making memories with our dogs, so we put together a list of some of our favorite fall activities around the state.
1. Pumpkin Patches and Apple Picking
Nothing says fall like a trip to the farm! A lot of places in North Georgia are dog-friendly and welcome you to bring your leashed pup along for the fun. You can pick out the perfect pumpkin, enjoy a hayride, or even go apple picking. Just be sure to call ahead to confirm their pet policies, as they can sometimes change!
Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge is a classic spot for U-Pick apples and a market full of goodies. They're a dog-friendly spot in the market, but dogs are not allowed inside the building.
Big Springs Farms Pumpkin Patch in Woodstock allows leashed dogs to join you as you search for the perfect pumpkin.
2. Leaf-Peeping on a Hike
The fall foliage in Georgia is a sight to see, and it's even better with a dog by your side. We have some fantastic dog-friendly trails where you can get some exercise and enjoy the autumn colors.
Vogel State Park is a great place for scenic hiking with your pup.
Cloudland Canyon State Park has some incredible views and dog-friendly trails. Just a heads-up that pets aren't allowed on the gorge floor or on some of the steeper stairs.
3. Dog-Friendly Festivals
We're all about dog-friendly events! This is a great time to find local markets and festivals that welcome pups. This year, we'll be at a few ourselves!
The Harvest Market at Historic Oakland Foundation: We're going to be at this market on October 4th and 5th! The Historic Oakland Foundation sets up a huge, dog-friendly pumpkin patch, and it's a great excuse to grab your pup and find the perfect pumpkin.
Rescue Dog Games - Atlanta's Dog Howl-O-Ween Festival: This free event on November 1st is a celebration of pet adoption and getting outside with your dog. It includes a dog costume contest, games, vendors, and more. It sounds like a blast!
We hope this gives you some inspiration for your next fall adventure with your pup! As always, be sure to keep your dog hydrated and on a leash, and remember to pick up after them.
Let us know what your favorite fall spots are in the comments!
Happy exploring, John & Brittany (The Hometown Hounds Co. Crew!)
